About Me
In 2014 I spent a month volunteering at an animal sanctuary in Namibia. It was here that I rediscovered my passion for helping animals and, after 10 years working in hospitality, I decided to retrain as a Veterinary Nurse.
I qualified in 2017 and spent my first years at my training practice, Orchard Vets in Romsey, before taking on the role of Veterinary Practice Manager. I returned to full time nursing in 2021 after moving to Portsmouth and starting at The Cat Clinic in Southsea.
I am passionate about minimising stress for animals during their time under veterinary care and I recognise that owners have differing needs too.
I have always felt there is a space in veterinary nursing for care outside of the practice, where clients’ requirements can be accommodated alongside that of the patient.
I am therefore proud to be launching Vet Nurse Jenny as part of the new District Veterinary Nurse concept.
Away from work I have been lucky enough to travel extensively, exploring wildlife and seeing animals in their natural habitat in places such as Africa, Panama, Costa Rica and Canada.
I have also spent time volunteering with animals in the UK and particularly enjoyed my months at a Llama farm in Cornwall and weekends at Longdown Activity Farm in the New Forest.
At home my husband Adam and I have a cat called Amber, who was rescued after being abandoned at 6 months old, and two bunnies, Ricochet and Rocket, who came from the Cat and Rabbit Rescue Centre. We are also hoping to add a canine friend to our family very soon.
I have a Certificate in Feline Nursing, from the International Society of Feline Medicine, and extensive knowledge of offering cat friendly care.
As a Registered Nurse with the Royal Collage of Veterinary Surgeons I am required to complete and log a set amount of Continued Professional Development every year.
I am DBS checked and registered, have VDS cover and public indemnity, pet sitting and dog walking insurance with PetPlan.
I look forward to meeting you and your pets very soon.
